Meet the founder
Michael E. McCabe is an award-winning CPA and financial executive with 25+ years of operating, project management and strategic financial analysis experience. Entrepreneurial, forward-thinking professional with proven ability to operate effectively under pressure in time-sensitive environments. He has a passion for working with businesses and individuals in meeting their goals.
Mike’s passion for accounting came in his freshman year at Fairfield University. He has always had a knack for numbers. Growing up, he used to memorize people’s phone numbers and could recite them on demand. He excelled at math. When he went off to college, he had planned on pursing a career as an actuary. He remembers one of his uncle suggesting to him that he go into accounting. His response was that he thought it would be too boring. Those thoughts changed once he took his first accounting course. In taking that course, he began to realize that there was much more to accounting than he realized. To him, it became the language and backbone of business. By the end of his freshman year, he switched his major to Accounting. He has never regretted that choice.
During his senior year, he landed a job offer to work for Arthur Andersen in New York City; an offer he gladly accepted. While there, he worked on the audits of several major companies. He also studied for the CPA exam; which he passed in the fall of 1989. He became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York in July 1990.
After three years at Arthur Andersen, Mike moved into the private sector, landing a job at Colgate-Palmolive Company in the Corporate Controller’s Group. He was very excited to work for a company where he could identify with the products they offered. Who doesn’t know Colgate Toothpaste? In fact, his last position there was as Financial Manager for the company’s U.S. Toothpaste business. In this capacity, he managed the P&L for about 4% of the company’s Worldwide revenue.
After eleven fantastic years at Colgate-Palmolive Company, he moved on to another famous company: Victoria’s Secret. There he held the position of Senior Manager, Store Finance for the Beauty division, where he managed the seasonal store planning process, quarterly sales plan review, and monthly sales plan distribution for 500 stores which generated $500+ million in revenue, including direct management of store accounting, budgeting and brand growth plan.
In June 2002, Mike decided to start his own business; capitalizing on great wealth of experience he had gained as an accounting and financial management professional. He launched MEMcCabe, LLC, a full-service accounting and financial consulting firm focused on corporate financial consulting, small business accounting solutions, and tax planning and preparation for both business and personal clients. In the fifteen years since he founded the business, Mike has enjoyed working with a great client base, helping all those who have partnered with him move forward with proactive business solutions.
